Baking some yummy cookies!

For some very strange reason I decided to bake some cookies with Leah this morning at 9am!

I was pleased with them and they are very tasty :o) They contain almonds, so I made sure the praline was in small pieces so Leah doesn't choke on them, unfortunately I like them more than her.

Here is the recipe anyway, in case you'd like to bake them.

For the praline

3oz sugar

1 oz of flaked almonds

for the cookies

60z plain flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

4oz butter or cooking margarine, softened

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp water

first you have to make the praline. Put the sugar and almonds in a heavy based saucepan and put on a medium heat until sugar has melted and turned a golden colour.

Pour onto a greased and lined baking tray and leave until cold. Once cols break into small pieces and put in a polythene bag. Bang with a rolling pin until the consistency you want to be in your cookies.

Pre heat your oven to gas mark 3, 165 degrees.

Sieve the flour and baking powder together and put aside for later. Cream the sugar and butter together until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract.

Add the flour and water alternately and mix until smooth. Once to this stage stir in the praline.

Put rounded teaspoons of the mix at 5cm/2inch intervals onto a well greased baking sheet.

bake for 16-20 mins or until brown at the edges.

remove from oven and leave on the baking tray for two minutes, then remove fully onto a wire rack for cooling.

The recipe should make about 36 depending on the size cookies you make.

Back from our hols....

Sorry for not being about for the last two weeks or so, luckily we have been enjoying ourselves in sunny Cornwall!

Funnily enough we stayed in exactly the same place as Lissy Lou and the Two Little Boys so it is well worth popping by her blog to see what she was up to.

We have a new camera, so I have to get to grips with that before being able to post on some of our photos. Please be patient, as Richard is also planning a quiz this Saturday night, so he's been hogging the laptop in the evenings!

A summer jumper for William

Its been a while since I have posted anything about knitting, well finally here is something I have finished! I made this for my nephew, but didn't have the right mood to sew it up for absoultely ages. I was really pleased with the result, especially as I didn't use an expensive yarn - and despite that it was really soft.



I haven't seen my nephew in it yet, but my sister seemed to like it which is the main thing. I have a sock which is almost finished now - and has been on the needles forever, so hopefully I will be able to get on with the second one soon!

I meant to post this picture earlier - my friend saw this and sent the picture to me, I did have a good chuckle!!

I won!

I took part in the ladies match again this year and this time I won! I really enjoyed it even though I had to listen to Richard bossing me about for 4 hours!

The lake has some visitors at the moment so I gave them the rest of my lunch which they seemed very pleased with.

The next morning we popped along to a car boot sale held in a nearby pub car park. Luckily the pub was doing breakfast so we tucked in to bacon and sausage rolls. Even Leah had one - yum, yum, yum!!

Finally some of my holiday snaps!

I am so sorry for not bloggging much lately, I juat have a lot going on at the moment. I wanted to share some photos of our holiday in South Devon at the beginning of June. We stayed in a small village just outside Salcome and had a lovely time.

We went to the beach a few times, especially Burgh Island which was beautiful. Leah loved it on the sand.....

....and splashing around in the water!

We also took a trip at the beginning of the week to the Miniature Pony Centre on Dartmoor, and although the weather wasn't that great Leah had a lovely time. She had a couple of pony rides and even though her face doesn't look like it, she really enjoyed herself!

I think it was more concentration than anything else! We had a great time and are all now loking forward to our trip to Cornwall in the middle of August!
